The Miss America pageant was on as background noise while making dinner. The TV was turned off by the time the interview portion came around, but I wish we had stuck with it longer.
Miss California gave an honest response to an interview question on gay marriage and is now being blasted for not giving a more P.C. (read total crap and void of opinion) answer. If you missed it check out this clip.
No matter what side of the closet you’re on with the gay marriage controversy there is a bigger issue to look at in the reaction to her response. I am proud Miss California answered a controversial topic with such honesty. An answer/opinion a lot of people in the pageant world say, including herself and the judge that asked the question, cost her the crown.
So let me see if I have this right… little girls that are dreaming of being Miss America should learn from Miss California’s mistake and not speak their mind about their true beliefs. It must be better to shove your personal truth deep down and tell people only what you think they want to hear. Sticking with a run of the mill generic response is what will capture the crown. That’s what a true Miss America would have done? Something seems off. This clip shows the Judge in question, Perez Hilton, giving his reason for scoring her a zero in the interview portion. ***warning: adult language used***
Sounds like Perez would have scored Miss California higher in interview if she kept her opinion to herself and spouted out something nonsensical like this:
